Project description: KYRS was a partner organization in the event platform “Integration of Roma into Ukrainian Society”, which took place on May 17, 2019 in Kyiv. The event was dedicated to discussing the strategy of protection and integration of the Roma national minority into Ukrainian society for the period up to 2020. The conference participants exchanged experiences and ideas on the implementation of government and local plans, as well as highlighted key challenges and achievements on the way to the integration of the Roma community.

Results:

• Making proposals to the draft decision of the conference aimed at strengthening local
  initiatives for the integration of Roma youth.
• Establishing new partnerships with representatives of governmental and non-governmental
  organizations.
• Obtaining relevant data for further work on projects in the field of education, culture and
  social protection of the Roma community.

Significance of the project:
Participation in this initiative was an important step for the KYRS in strengthening its position as an active participant in the national dialogue on the rights of the Roma community and its integration into society. The event contributed to the exchange of experience, strengthening of intersectoral cooperation and development of new initiatives to support the Roma community in Ukraine.
